We rule the play ground

Double Dutch- CC Martini

Did you know that there is something very special about this video clip? If you look very closely, you can see a face in the background which looks a lot like Tara. Ruby also appears in this briefly.

The most common question that follows after we tell this story is

"How did you get in the video clip?"

The answer is: Ruby was told at school that if you wished to be an extra in a movie to show up at a primary school at 7:30am. Always up for a new experience but not wanting to go alone, Ruby called Tara. Ruby told Tara that it was a great opportunity and a good story to be able to tell. Tara's first response was "How much money do we get?".
The girls got up at 6am to go to the set.
Fereshteh told us we should get money and lunch at this place, because Tara's father had been an extra in some films and programmes before, he was paid quite well. Upon arrival, Ruby and Tara were told that they weren't going to be extras in a movie, they were going to be extras in a music video for some unknown Aussie pop star. And that the 7:30am start was not mandatory. At this point Tara was really angry;

1. It was too cold

2. She had to wear a uniform which she had to provide.

3. The Pop Diva was a cheap skate, so for her child labour there was no reward.

But besides all the anger there was a spring of happiness when Tara went into a room where a feast of lunch and snack were provided.

"What did you have to do?"

Ruby was told to skip, but was not provided with a skipping rope. Tara was given a rope and had to do jumps non stop for 15 takes each lasting a few minutes, which was two seconds of footage in the finished product.

When it was break time, Ruby and Tara decided to go exploring. They went upstairs, where they Accidentally broke a drum, snooping +messing up a 3/4 classroom and found a quite interesting device called a appel peeler where Ruby threw an appel core on Tara . They also attempted to steal an old metal school bell which weighed about twice as much as they did. They then read a book about a deceased child who used to attend the school. The half an hour break quickly turned into two hours of mayhem.

"What were the crew like?"

The director was a tool. He was probably over worked, but that isn't an excuse to treat your extras like crap. CC Martini and her friends from the video were very nice and chatted with the 'little people'. She came to Tara's house in person and gave her two singles, her album, two music DVDs, an autograph and a sticker for free. They give her as much good luck and respect as they can.

"Was it a success?"

The most we gained from this experience was some laughs and a new appreciation for extras in films.The most we gained from this experience was some laughs and a new appreciation for extras in films.
